Celebrities that game – Part I

So I stumbled upon this particular post via my twitter account about John Mayer (the musician/songwriter) switching from playing Gears of War to Guitar Hero and it got me thinking… how many other famous celebs are gamers (and I am not just talking about the ‘Ooh I picked up a controller once so I’m a gamer’ type either). I am sure there are other famous celebs out there that actually do play video games when they have time and play them relatively well but who are these people? On a personal note, I’d love to know what Buckethead thinks of Guitar Hero, now that’s an article I’d definitely write!

If you know of any celebs that play video games and you’d like to share that information, please let me know. I’m dead keen to see who these people are and what they play.  It’s pretty interesting stuff.

But back to the John Mayer article (thanks to PlayStation Lifestyle), I love both Gears (used to be a real hardcore Gears player) and Guitar Hero. So, I couldn’t really see myself swapping one for the other as I used to play them both regularly (Gears almost every day at one point, my longest Gears session lasting 16 hours lol). Ahem, but yeah, it’s quoted in the article that John Mayer has now become a Guitar Hero fan even though he misquoted the game as ‘Rockband’ (gasp). Now, I dunno about you (and nobody’s perfect) but seriously, the games aren’t really that similar other than they share the same genre. Rockband to me is about the whole band and always was – Guitar Hero is really all about the guitar. Sure, Guitar Hero has expanded to include other instruments since but it will always be about the guitar for me and probably many other gamers.
