X-Men Origins: Wolverine leaked?!

Yep… that’s right, apparently those renegade internet pirates seem to be at it again with a leaked version of the new X-Men movie ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ already accessible via the internet according to CNN. The worst part about it is the financial affect this action will have on ticket sales once the super-hyped movie hits the big screen. I’m a big fan of Marvel and all the movies adapted from Marvel comics but I honestly couldn’t see the appeal in downloading a ‘pirated’ and also unfinished version of this movie.

The debate about movie piracy has been a controversial one for years now and I honestly don’t see a resolution coming any time soon. The internet has literally changed the way people live. That’s a serious force to be reckoned with. It’s not just dealing with the pirates per se, it’s more like dealing with a phenomenal force that just keeps growing. Even if the original pirates who acquired the movie and then made it accessible on the net were caught, tens of thousands of people have probably already downloaded the file which can then be distributed via several different mediums. It would be impossible (not to mention, costly) for law enforcement to monitor every possible access point online.

Which is why I find it very reassuring that even in this day and age of digital technology where everything is merely a mouse-click away, we can still opt to log off, pick up a great book and just unplug from the virtual world and still enjoy ourselves. We can also do the movie industry a big favour and turn off our computers and buy tickets to go and see the movie the old fashioned way – the way everyone used to before the internet started to takeover. Now, isn’t that a novel idea?
